have you recently updated the firmware??  is it a BES or BIS handset?

Sounds like a java issue. My suggestion is to backup the handheld using desktop manager then wipe and reinstall the OS. You should be able to get the latest handheld OS version form your wireless carrier's support site > phone/device support section.

you can get the device software here -

you will also need the latest Desktop Manager installed, then add the package to your system, and dock the device, the DM will pick up the latest OS update and offer to install it.  Make sure you pick the correct carrier for your contract/network.
