I'm not too familiar with Flash, however, I'm pretty certain you cannot use a map on a Flash.
Couldn't you just edit the Flash file itself and make the links in there?  I know this is more common practice than what you wish to do.

Hi LZ1

Thanks for your input

I thought the same but when I looked at this

http://htmlhelp.com/reference/html40/special/object.html

Although it says I can but for some reason I am not able to use in my attached document. I was trying to add links to the four boxes which are shown in the flash file

Yes, if I had the original flash editable document I could have done this easily.

I don't think you can use MAP with the SWF...  Your option is to do that inside the Flash, but you said that you don't have a source file...

So, your actual option is to create a loader that loads your SWF and then adds the invisible buttons on where it needs to be clicked...  I do not know which one you'd like to add in links, so I just did a quick tester file which you can put into the directory where your homepage.swf file is...  I've done it in AS2 cuz you did not specify the version of ActionScript you are using, but the same logic applies even though it is AS3 project...  See if this works for you...
