TS RemoteApp (Outlook) and Symantec Endpoint AV compatibility

Hi experts,

I have the following situation:
We are using Server 2008 Terminal Server remote app for outlook.
This is working decent on its own.
Now i would like to implement Symantec Endpoint for the Terminal Server so that outlook is scanned for viruses and so for all users who use remote app.

If i install Endpoint with outlook scanning enabled and it finds a virus or something, will the users using outlook via remote app see the popup from Endpoint?
Will the users notice something performance wise? And will remote app in its whole work slower?

I can't test this since this is a live situation with around 50 users using this system.

Awaiting your answers.

Hi,

I've looked at the documents and they helped a bit.
The only problem is that the documents are for Terminal Server in generel (completely taking over the desktop) while in this case it's only outlook via RemoteApp. So the users only see the outlook client

Guess i'll configure Endpoint on the Terminal server to not display a notification message, but to change the subject line and insert a message in the body to warn the users.

Regarding the performance i'll follow the documents you posted to ensure the most performant solution.

I'll try it out
Hi,

Yes you can change the notification settings for users.
Please let me know once you test this out.

I am figuring this out at this moment

yea as covered,
outlook ts only carries the outlook part so popups and hangon will not display. it would be like the server throughing up a error on a normail Remote session, the use wont see it only the serverside. so yes if you want to let the clent know that there email had a virus then have it appened the email. alternativly dont have the email go to the client and have it go to a "store and let the client get a message tellign them the invected email has been stored and once IT has cleared it the email may be delivered if it is of a business nature.

Personally I would look at filtering the email befor the delivary stage anyway maybe athe firewall stage with a program like Mail Marshal or the like.

best of luck
