Using EmptyDataText as part text part link for a Gridview in ASP C#

I have a gridview that when no results are availablle, I'd like a link to another page to appear.  I currently have text coming up within the emptydatatext= option, but it will not accept me putting a link into the text.  Is there a way to do this?  Perhaps in the code behind databound event?

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

add an empty data template just like you added the <Itemtemplate>. then put your link inside the emptydata template

check out the example here

http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/system.web.ui.webcontrols.gridview.emptydatatemplate.aspx
 <asp:gridview id="CustomersGridView"
        datasourceid="CustomersSqlDataSource"
        autogeneratecolumns="true"
        runat="server">

        <emptydatarowstyle backcolor="LightBlue"
          forecolor="Red"/>

        <emptydatatemplate>

          <asp:image id="NoDataImage"
            imageurl="~/images/Image.jpg"
            alternatetext="No Image"
            runat="server"/>

            No Data Found.

        </emptydatatemplate>

      </asp:gridview>
