how to change the CNAME with DNS server

I have been asked to do the following from the company that is hosting our email exchage servers.

To my understanding you are using Xcompany.com as your Active Directory domain. In this case, you will also need to update your internal DNS servers.

All that’s required a change of a CNAME record.

You will need to change:

autodiscover CNAME autodiscover.emailhosting.com.

TO:

autodiscover CNAME autordr.emailhosting.com.

Please advise

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

If you open your DNS console and expand Forward Lookup Zones do you see xcompany.com?

And if you do, can you see an existing record called autodiscover?

I see the autodiscover but the type is listed as a HOST A.

Great okay.

Delete that one, then right click and add a new Alias (CNAME) record. The name will be autodiscover again, then you pop the name they've given into the target box (I forget the label I'm afraid, the lower of the two boxes).
