Office 2007 Updates Fail

We are trying to update a Windows XP SP3 PC with these updates:
KB981715
KB981433
KB980470
KB979365

They fail every time. I have tried every solotion I have seen here with no luck. I have MSI logging turned on. The errors in event viewer just say error 1603. Most of the logs in the Windows directory have the error code 80070643. No viruses are on the PC and it has been scanned for Malware. I have tried using the Windows Update site and have tried downloading and installing the updates manually. I am including the MSI log from trying to install the KB98175 update. Thanks.

I wear a lot of hats...

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Worth a shot I guess.
Wish you the best, I had the same issue a long time ago and I just uninstalled and reinstalled and the issue was resolved.
I gave the same advice to others and some it fixed and others experianced the same issue.
So.
I will only suggest a reinstall of Office ONLY if it is the only option available to you.

Until then, Hopefully this will assist, though it is for 2003, maybe it will apply to your 2007 issue.

I have a cleanup script I use for repairing autoupdate fails and WSUS reporting...

At the end of that post, there are 3 dll files relating to office update that are re-registered. - add to the script referenced below and run. let me know if this works for you.

_Cheers_

I finally got this to work. I uninstalled Microsoft Viso and then tried to re-install it. I received an error stating that the file dbghelp.dll was an invalid windows installation file. I renamed the file to dbghelp.old and tried to reinstall. Visio successfully installed, and i tre-created the dbghelp.dll file. I then ran windows updates and a lot of updates appeared, like Office 2007 SP2. Once all the updates installed I tried the updates that would not install, and they all worked this time. I am still not sure what caused the problems.
