Keyboard not funtioning on PC

Keyboard stopped functioning on XP Pc. Works fine in bios so not a keyboard fault. Have tried  a usb keyboard which installs fine in devices and extra keys work such as calculator, web,mail etc but no keys on the keyboard including caps lock & num lock

Any ideas ?

What is the model of Your motherboard. Some factors has known issues with ps/2 keyboards which works on linux or bios, while don't on windows OS. Please check for bios updates
If you have your OS CD you might try running a quick Repair. That's obviously IF the keyboard works to that point.
XP Repair instructions.
After the Repair you may need to reinstall your latest Service Pack and some Hotfixes.
As a side note, I would make sure that you have at a minimum your system's network driver (NIC). I had one system that lost the driver after a Repair.

Unplug the keyboard and plug it again, if it doesn´t work try shutting down the computer for a while. If it still doesn´t work try  a usb keyboard. If one of these is your problem then you have to make a ground connection to your computer chasis because it may be giving voltage.

Would still like to find out if anyone knows a solution - landed up reloading all fine now !
