windows mail error 0x800ccoe

I'm using aindows mail on my laptop which runs on Windows Vista service pack 2. We recently . hinstalled AVG Internet Security 9.0,There already was a problem with Windows mail loading up very slowly but now it refuses to send any emails and only receives a few each day as I keep an eye on my Gmail online and I only receive a fraction of these in my windows mail inbox. I have tried disabling the AVG email scanner and also the AVG Firewall, but to no avail. What can I do now? I've also tried changing the SMTP port to 26 and/or joy either. The current error is 0x800ccoe......The connection to the server has failed. Account: '', Server: '', Protocol: POP3, Port: 110, Secure(SSL): No, Socket Error: 10060, Error Number: 0x800CCC0E.........The connection to the server has failed.', Account: '', Server: '', Protocol: SMTP, Port: 26, Secure(SSL): No, Socket Error: 10060, Error Number: 0x800CCC0E
Who is Participating?
siobhanmonty--I think you mean windows mail error 0x800cccoe (3 c's).
And do you mean Windows Mail or Windows Live Mail?  If the former, I suggest you uninstall Windows Mail and install Windows Live Mail.
If that does not solve both problems, uninstall the AVG suite entirely.
Concerning port numbers, see here.
If no success, and if you paying for this service, phone the supplier.
Question for you:
Was this working well prior to installing AVGIS 9.0?
If it is then you might need to configure AVGIS 9.0.

Try changing the smtp port to 465 as this is the port they have aside from 587.

Also, please make sure that your outbox folder is empty.   hope this helps

Changing to Windows Live mail on Vista and changing port to 465 seemed to work along with disabling AVG email scanner...Thanking You!
siobhanmonty--You are welcome!! Glad to hear the good news.
