HP LaserJet 4014n Maintenance Counter Won't Reset

Hi,

I just installed a maintenance kit for my HP LaserJet 4014n and followed all of the instructions that came with the kit, but when I got to the part about resetting the maintenance kit counter I ran into a problem.  The instructions say to:

1. Turn the product power off and then on.
2. When XXX MB appears on the control-panel display, press and hold down the OK button until all three control-panel lights flash once, and then stay on. This might take up to 10 seconds.
3. Release the OK button and press the up arrow  to scroll to NEW MAINTENANCE KIT.
4. Press OK to reset the maintenance-kit counter.

My Problem:  "NEW MAINTENANCE KIT" is not one of the menu options.  The only options are:

SELECT LANGUAGE
SELF TEST
COLD RESET
EMBEDDED LAN DISABLE

So I'm stuck.  Anyone have any ideas for how to get my HP 4014n to recognize the new maintenance kit?

Thanks!
Jon

You might need to upgrade the firmware on this device as it might not have this option available as stated in your provided instructions.

Thanks,

There was also a workaround in case you don't want to upgrade the firmware:

"some of the earlier versions of firmware excluded the option in that menu.you can upgrade firmware.or go in the service menu and use the pin code:05401408. to enter service menu and reset it manually there.to enter service menu ,hit the menu button and use the arrows to scroll to "service" and hit ok."

Thanks!
