Cannot authenticate to companyweb

I recently rebuilt my intranet on the sbs2003 server. The reason it was rebuilt was due to the following error:
Event Type:      Error
Event Source:      Windows SharePoint Services 2.0
Event Category:      None
Event ID:      1000
Date:            4/20/2010
Time:            5:31:57 PM
User:            N/A
Computer:      SBS2003
Description:
#50070: Unable to connect to the database STS_Config on SBS2003\SharePoint.  Check the database connection information and make sure that the database server is running.

Now that I have the companyWeb online and the MSSQL$sharepoint service started, I am unable to authenticate to the companyweb. It keeps prompting for credentials even when I put in correct credentials.
In addition, when I navigate to the sharepoint central administration page and goto the companyweb configuration I keep getting these errors:
"The virtual server that is referenced here is not in the config database."

I am also getting this error in the event log
Event Type:      Error
Event Source:      W3SVC
Event Category:      None
Event ID:      1007
Date:            4/20/2010
Time:            5:27:51 PM
User:            N/A
Computer:      SBS2003
Description:
Cannot register the URL prefix 'http://companyweb:80:192.168.1.7/' for site '4'. The necessary network binding may already be in use. The site has been deactivated.  The data field contains the error number.

Please help!

I believe I have narrowed the problem down to multiple instances of companyweb trying to use port 80. Please review the following errors:

Where do I go to fix this issue? Where can I find the conflicting sites and how do I determine which to delete? Where do I delete them?

Hi,

Change the port for effect sites and check.

Hope this helps,

The problem was that I neglected to delete the Port /LM/W3SVC/3: registry key. It is located here:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Shared Tools\Web Server Extensions\Ports

After I had to uninstall the intranet and sharepoint from the server again in addition to deleting that key. After I reinstalled it, it was fine.
I followed this article:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/829114

The problem I am having now is authenticating to the companyweb. When I try to access it, it prompts me for credentials 3x and I know I am putting in correct credentials. I ran the "change user permissions" wizard again also and I am still having the same problem. Any ideas?
