Wallpaper changing

Hi There,

I have BG info setup across the organisation with a wall paper enabled on all desktop pcs via a group policy.

When logging onto the domain for abouy 5-10 seconds the default wall paper is loaded (dell wall paper) and bginfo is applied to  to the default paper which i don't want. After the 5-10 seconds my  prefered wallpaper is loaded

The problem is that BGINFO settings aren't applied to my wallpaper since the default wall paper loaded at startup quickly and bginfo was applied to it. How can i make sure that my wallpaper is loaded straight away please?

Thank  you

okay I did some testing in my lab with win2k8 and logon.bat
make a share on the server ie, C:\Bginfo and copy your bginfo.exe and *.bgi file and wallpaper to the share
create a regfile to enter a startup on the client computer

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run]
"bginfo"="X:\\bginfo.exe /NOLICPROMPT X:\\brg.bgi /timer:0"

create the file logon.bat in SYSVOL\domainname\scripts if it does not exist just create the batch file and add the following to mount the share at logon
IF NOT EXIST X:\BGinfo net use X: \\server\Bginfo /persistent:no

Finaly just make sure you enable the logon.bat file on the users account as in attached image.

Let me know how you go with it

Ho MCP200

As a part of my clean install custom lenovo image I run a cmd file which removes all wallpapers
from the system on first boot and I add the reg entry for bginfo to run on startup from RunOnceEx.cmd

I also apply a reg file with gpolicy that sets the default wallpaper as the bginfo one which is stored in the bginfo directory

I hope this helps
DEL "%systemroot%\*.bmp"
DEL "%systemroot%\Web\Wallpaper\*.jpg"
DEL "%systemroot%\Web\Wallpaper\*.bmp"

REG ADD %KEY%\070 /VE /D "BgInfo" /f
REG ADD %KEY%\070 /V 1 /D "REGEDIT /S %systemdrive%\Bginfo\bginfo.reg" /f

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run]
"bginfo"="c:\\bginfo\\bginfo.exe /NOLICPROMPT c:\\bginfo\\brg.bgi /timer:0"

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\System]
"Wallpaper"="C:\\Bginfo\\Wallpaper1.bmp"
"WallpaperStyle"="2"

Open in new window

Hi There,

Thanks for the prompt reply,

I'm using desktop authority for scripting . Currently BGINFO is shared over the network. Does it mean now i have to change the path.

Hi There,

I'm using Desktop Authority for scripting  yes  so theres a login script
I'm using application lanuch within Desktop Authority  to point to bginfo share over the network.
There's options within desktop authority to create registery keys etc. Maybe ill have to play with it in test environment

Sorry im not much of scripting person

cool well you could try adding it to the logon script
ie, a local batch file would consist of  c:\bginfo\bginfo.exe /NOLICPROMPT C:\bginfo\brg.bgi /timer:0
the wallpaper is specified in the *.bgi file
