I wear a lot of hats...

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

You can receive a syslog or snmp trap from the router when the neighbor goes down, and some syslog or snmp receiver software can send an email notification.

Hi,

If you want to monitoring, you able to use SNMP mib to ask the router about EIGRP neigbours, or use mikebernhardt comments!

Ok . . . you can either send snmp traps to a trap manager to trigger an email or you can configure Cisco to send syslog messages to a syslog server and then trigger email alerts.

What OS? Windows? *nix? You can use Zenoss or OpenNMS.

http://www.zenoss.com/

Both are free, both have windows and *nix versions . . . and both require "attention to deail" setup.

Good luck,

You can make the router send syslog messages about neighbor drops with
router eigrp [AS #]
 eigrp log-neighbor-changes

You can download free syslog software, which can be set up to email you if it receives particular messages, here:
