Netbook blocks some sites

I have an HP notebook that is new so there should not be a virus issue. It is very slective on what sites it can show. For example:

It cannot log into hotmail. You can get to the hotmail home page, but after you pu in your username and password and cick sign in, it just sites there.

If you go to Jetblue.com it is OK until you try to book a flight. Then it will say it was unable to connect.

I have turned off the firewall, no difference. I have unchecked the autodetect for the proxy. There is no antivirus/ firewall

I put on Firefox thinking it may be better, but in fact I cannot get to any sites, shows connection problem.. any ideas?

Is this a pc problem or a user problem? Does it occur with all users? Can you create a new user, log in with that user and check again?
On one hand - it could be transparent proxy, and on other - security settings in a browser. Are You running Your computer as administrator? Is it on some domain?

Only 1 account and it is Administrator, Created new user and set it as admin, and same result

not on domain
Is this happening on a previously untroubled network? Is it your home network/router setup?

Do you have unfettered connection with other computers on this network?

Just something to look at.
Or is it just https:// sites that don't work?

other computers have no problem, so I know it is not the router/ firewall.. I willl look at the https aspect..

I will check, but it does not explain Firefox not getting anywhere

It is more than https sites.

On JetBlue, after I fill in the flight starting and endoing point, If I click on Find Flights (http://book.jetblue.com/B6/webqtrip.html?intcmp=minibooker&)

It goes to an oops.. try again page.. It looks like you are experiencing technical issues.

After doing some digging, I found Norton Internet Security was installed, but would not uninstall. Downloaded the Mater Uninstaller from Symantec, and it helped somewhat. One program (a scrabble game) will now connect to its site.

and Firefox is connecting and jetblue shows up (but it still does not in IE. )

The 2nd Windows FIX IT listed appears to have reset the IE Settings and it is working better.. still some issues.. but better.. Thanks
