I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Firstly you need to give them everything except full control (as this will allow them to change permissions etc)

Secondly you need to apply the permissions to "This folder, subolders and files" under the advanced tab on the security page.

If this is a shared drive which I think it is, then you need to give full permissions in the 'Sharing' tab in the properties of the folder too.

Forgot to mention share permssion should be full controll, have you actually set security permissions? or have you only done share permissions?

If not do so as above.

Ok when your right click the folder and select properties you have a sharing tab? this is where you set the share name of the folder etc, this should be full control for all users.

Ok also when your right click the folder and select properties you will have a "security" tab you will also need to grant permissions here so that the users can write to the folder, normally read, write and modify is enough (but never give full control here).

Hope that helps

Dear Majotech,
If I explain clearly right click the folder--> go to share and security-->click on security--> addedd the user name--> full control.
Now under the sercurity--> advanced-->im seeing allow/full control/not inherited/this folders, sub folders and folders. I doubt that is there anything to do on the below two options.
1.allow inheritable permissions
2.Replace permissions.
Please help me.

Try selecting replace permissions on subfolders and selecting apply. (if there are already files and folders in this location)

Also if it's windows server 2003 there should be 2 tabs 1 for sharing AND 1 for security if so then you need to select the sharing tab>permissions and set permission here also (just grant full control)

Right Click Folder -> Sharing and Security -> Sharing -> bottom right corner, click on permissions, give Full control to the users.

Hello Abdul,
I understand, so
1) Does the user physically logon to this server and then accesses your newly created folder?
or
2) Does the user logon to the newly created folder that you created in the server from his dedicated desktop/laptop which is in the network.

If point number 1 is valid then you dont need to do anything with the sharing tab.
If point number 2 is valid then you need to share the folder and then do the suggested steps, and ensure that MojoTech's and my steps are followed.

Praveen.
