Prevent action in IE6

 Hi Experts!

 I have a strange effect on IE6. In an input field if I consecutively push 2-3 times the delete key it jumps to the previous page in the browser history. Is there any way I can prevent this?

I tried this code but does not work
if (keycode == '8') {
	return false;

Open in new window

You mean backspace key ?

This shouldn't happen except when the input field loses focus for some reason, You should check what is causing the input field to loose focus.

You can't handle this with event.preventDefault(); as event though such a function would detect the keydown, it still wouldn't prevent the history.back.

You'd need to disable the back button which would be inconvenient.
