Running 32 bit app (QDX) on Windows server 2008 R2

I have installed Server 2008 R2 and need to get Quovadx 5.7 running.  5.7 was just released recently but only has support for the first release of 2008, not the 64-bit version.  When I run the setup the error message is:

"The version of this file is not compatible with the verson of Windows you're running.  Check your computers system information to see whether you need an x86 (32-bit) or x64(64-bit) version of the program, and then contact the software publisher."

Obviously I need a 64 bit version, but that does not exist.  When I right click and choose "troubleshoot compatibility" and try reccommended settings, or any other previous version, and then click "Start the program" nothing happens.

I watched the processes in task manager, and when i click on the "start this program button" a RunDll32.exe is started but goes away instantaneously.

I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

what if you execute the program from the run box, with a /32 at the end
like, "c:\program files\folder\file.exe /32"

This is the error message i get when I try that.

This version of c:\orsos software\qdx_57\Setup.exe is not compatible with the ve
rsion of Windows you're running. Check your computer's system information to see
whether you need a x86 (32-bit) or x64 (64-bit) version of the program, and the
n contact the software publisher.

hmm.  i've had another obscure software package in this situation, was able to be fixed by forcibly disabling data execution prevention...
from the command prompt:

Bcdedit /set nx AlwaysOff
then reboot
