Help with HTML tables, centering and erasing a little space between rows

I have a problem with a table. I want to remove the blue space between the 1st and 2nd row (the 1st row image has not any blue part), what can I do?

Also, I tried to center horizontal and vertical the page using a table, but i can only center it horizontally, any idea?

In attached files I attach the code and a capture of the problem.

Thank you.
<!-- I try to center the page with the first table, but it don't vertical center the page... -->
<table width="100%" height="100%"><tr><td valign="middle" align="center">

<table width="284" border="0" cellspacing="0" cellpadding="0">
    <td valign="bottom"><img src="images/logo_n.png" border="0" />
    <!-- I want to delete the space between this row and the down row -->
    <td bgcolor="#FFFFFF"><p>scdsd</p>
    <td><img src="images/tabs.png" /></td>

what space blue ?
i tried under IE6.0 and FF3.5.3 and the table in center/middle of the page. (i add border=1 for the 2nd table)

Note: for HTML layout it is recommended to never use table.
could you add an URL/sandbox to let us check your code ?

The second option to remove the blue space works well! Thank you!

Now I'll try to center it with a DIV

mh... the DIV centering works, but only vertically, i used also a table to center all horizontally, so the problem is solved too.
