Trying to install Cisco VPN 5.0.02.0090

I am trying to install the CIsco Client for windows on a client machine with XP sp3 but when i launch the install the windows seem to open and close immediatly. the install never opens or fails. I reccieve no errors but the software never installs. Ive stopped the firewall and anti virus services and recieve the same result. It seems Cisco will not support the software installaiton only the VPN Device (hardware)

Did you check the event log for errors, did you try to install in on any other workstation ?  Try installing it in safe mode or from command prompt. Instead of using the autorun, run the setup file.

Here is a thread that may offer guidance

A longshot, untested.
The Cisco VPN client may not install correctly on a Windows XP machine because of compatibility problems with the Windows Internet Connection Sharing. If you experience problems, you may need to disable the Internet Connection Sharing service.

i believe it's related to OS since your installation file works fine on other computers.

ERROR_INSTALL_USEREXIT 1602 User cancel installation.

1 ) maybe u can do an OS system restore to a certain time back?

2) create a new user with administrator rights , login with the user and try to install the vpnclient

4) try older\other version of ciscovpnclient if it helps ?

5) i would definitely format reinstall the OS if i were you since u have wasted so many days troubleshooting it

hope that helps!

i reinstalled windows XP (did a reimage of the laptop back to initial image) and the program installed without any problem. It was an OS related issue, and somthing nasty too given that restoreing to older points did not work.
