Mass Undeliverable Spam messages in Outlook 2007

Hi, one of our users is receiving 10-30 undeliverable email messages that we have no idea of their origin. They come in bursts. Windows Live messenger was removed from the machine and they seemed to have stopped for a few days but have since resumed. The user has a  Blackberry with the Desktop Redirector and of course is receiving the them on the Blackberry, also. Any ideas on how to troubleshoot the source of these undeliveralbe spams that have no origination with the user. Thank you, Greg.

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

This is NDR spam and there is little you can do about it apart from using an effective Anti-Spam program on your server to eliminate it before it hits the user.
What are you using to deal with spam on your servers?

Hi Alan and thank you for your reply. We have Exchange Server 2003 SP2 and are only using the Intelligent Message Filter (IMF) for our spam. We haven't had any problems until now. It was suggested to change the email address, but this is a business and long standing email address and that really doesn't seem feasible. Can IMF be setup better to block the spam in this case? Thank you, Greg

I have never had too much success with IMF/ built-in anti-spam measures on Exchange 2003.
You may want to install a trial version of Vamsoft ORF - www.vamsoft.com onto your server.  It is small (4Mb), powerful (http://blog.sembee.co.uk/archive/2009/11/16/112.aspx) and very well priced (should you wish to buy it) at $239 per server (one-time only purchase).
The trial lasts for 30 days and should resolve your problem very quickly.
I use it on my own server (Exchange 2010) and have installed it for most of my customers (Exchange 2003 / 2007) and they all love it.
If you want to use the built-in tools, please have a read of the following:
