opening internet explorer in full vs window mode

I have explorer installed on this xp pro computer. I have various icons that will open internet explorer and go to the specific web site on my desktop. unfortunately every time explorer runs it starts of in window mode instead of full screen move. I know I can set the window to the full screen by enlarging it. but is there a way that explorer will start in full screen move for some applications (shortcuts) on my desktop while if I start explorer by itself it will start in normal window mode? I do recall that you can set this if you run in compatibily mode but that doesnot work in shortcuts.
