BlackBerry disconnecting from Desktop Manager

I have a user who can't get her BlackBerry to stay connected to Desktop Manager. When it's first plugged in, DM detects it, and comes up with its pin. A few seconds later it flashes up the Install Shield window several times, and the BB gets disconnected.

Things tried so far:
Different versions of Desktop Manager (4.3 through 5.0.1 (with and without media manager)). Removed battery. Different USB ports. Different cables.
When I'm logged in on the pc, the BB stays connected. When she plugs the BB into another user's pc (either her, or other user's profile), it stays connected. The BB comes up in Device Manager as a Blackberry Smartphone, and it's reporting no issues.

Make a new windows profile on her computer (problem computer) and see if the BB stays connected (same profile properties as the user). Let us know what happens and then we can go from there.

Ok, that worked as far as staying connected. Thank you.

The problem now is that her Calendar items are not syncing. She has all her events on the BB, but they're not going into Outlook. Everything else comes across fine.

The new windows profile likely would have changed the Blackberry Desktop settings back to default. I definitely have to change calendar settings because the default calendar range is too narrow. Also, it is probably now necessary to save all her data, delete her profile and re-create it. Probably you should save the profile somewhere benign instead of deleting it. Then check all the settings in the BB Desktop tool (I must change them all). ... Thinkpads_User

I changed the settings to sync all calendar items from device. Still not coming across. Also, Outlook does not have any of the old calendar items. I also wiped the BB. No change.

I am not certain. Your original question was about Sync dropping, and that was fixed by a new profile. If you have now ensured that you are syncing all calendar items (that is, all dates forward and backward) then I don't know why the BB would not sync.

Is Outlook set to cache (so that there is a local OST file)? Try removing cache (it can be rebuilt) and see if that is affecting sync.

Then, try all this on a different machine, and if it works on a different machine, you may have reached a point where you need to consider reimaging the user's computer. ... Thinkpads_User

Ok, I figured out the calendar sync. The BB has a "Calendar" and a "Calendar - All". Only "Calendar" is syncing with Outlook as it's the default calendar. Changing the default to the other one gets it going.

Thanks for solving the first problem for me.
