Embedding google calendar in Joomla

I have a joomla legacy 1.0 website. I'd like to display a google calendar.  I originally put it in a wrapper but it needed to be for registered people only. The problem with that is if the user is not registered, they won't see the menu item.

If the menu item displayed but did not let you in to the page, that would be great.

So question 1. Can I have a registered menu item visible to non-registered users?  If no is the answer, than...

Question 2. I'd be happy to put the calendar within an article and make that article for registered people. But the code google provides disappears when I paste it into the HTML of an article.

Any ideas?

The problem with entering the code in an article is the editor will delete some of the code when you save.

You can turn off the  editor in the Global Config, or if you want to have a little bit of fun you can enter the code directly in the the database using phpMyAdmin. make a note of the article id in your Joomla article editor. Then browse your database in phpMyAdmin and locate the table that holds the articles, then locate the ID and paste the google code.

Be aware IF you should ever open the article in the Article manager and you have an editor enabled you will strip part of your code.
