Red Hat Enterprise Linux 64 bit, php, gd and libjpeg Problem

I am compiling php with gd and libjpeg among other things for Magento.  All compiles well but phpinfo does not show the jpeg libraries installed.  Here is my configure line:

./configure --with-apxs2=/web/servers/http/nahoku/bin/apxs --with-mysql --with-pdo-mysql --with-libdir=lib64 --with-gd=/usr --with-jpeg-dir=/usr/lib --enable-soap --with-curl=/usr/local/lib/php/extensions

I have tried numerous variations and can make it not find gd or libjpeg, so I know these libraries are there because the configure and make run.

Here are my file locations in question:

did you try without putting the directory ??

./configure --with-apxs2=/web/servers/http/nahoku/bin/apxs  --with-mysql --with-pdo-mysql --with-libdir=lib64 --with-gd  --with-jpeg-dir --with-png-dir --enable-soap --with-curl=/usr/local/lib/php/extensions

what error does it say ??

I get no error from configure or make on the command line but in phpinfo under gd there is no JPEG Support is Enabled.  Here is my config.log

I used yum to install all of the packages above and same thing using the configure command:

./configure --with-apxs2=/web/servers/http/nahoku/bin/apxs --with-mysql --with-pdo-mysql --with-libdir=lib64 --with-gd --with-jpeg-dir --with-png-dir --enable-soap --with-curl=/usr/local/lib/php/extensions

get no errors in configure, make or make install.

do a phpinfo and get:

gd

GD Support      enabled
GD Version      bundled (2.0.34 compatible)
GIF Read Support      enabled
GIF Create Support      enabled
PNG Support      enabled
WBMP Support      enabled
XBM Support      enabled

No JPEG Support.  Thanks.

I noticed something else strange.  I configure php withthe following:

./configure --with-apxs2=/web/servers/http/nahoku/bin/apxs --with-mysql --with-pdo-mysql --with-libdir=lib64 --with-gd --with-jpeg-dir=/usr/lib64  --with-png-dir --enable-soap --with-curl=/usr/local/lib/php/extensions

run make
run make install
stop/start apache

Run php info and the configure line reads as follows:

'./configure' '--with-apxs2=/web/servers/http/nahoku-2.2.15/bin/apxs' '--with-mysql' '--with-pdo-mysql' '--with-libdir=lib64' '--with-gd' '--enable-soap' '--with-curl=/usr/local/lib/php/extensions'

The php configure line seems to ignore the  --with-jpeg-dir=/usr/lib64 switch

I even tried it in fron t of the gd switch, as I read there was a bug that the fix was to put the jpeg switch in front of the gd switch as follows:

./configure --with-apxs2=/web/servers/http/nahoku/bin/apxs --with-mysql --with-pdo-mysql --with-libdir=lib64 --with-jpeg-dir=/usr/lib64 --with-gd --with-png-dir --enable-soap --with-curl=/usr/local/lib/php/extensions

The php configure line still seems to ignore the  --with-jpeg-dir=/usr/lib64 switch

Any help would be appreciated.  Thanks.

I found my problem.  I am sorry.  I had two versions of apache installed on the same server.  I somehow got the two version crossed.  didn't notice it in the make install stage till now.  the version numbers were close.

Thanks for the forum to help find my error.  Sorry for the distraction of my error.
