I am running into an issue here. Recently, I have started setting up HYPER-V 2008 R2 servers and although everything is sorted, something still remains usorted.
We use a POWERWARE 5115 UPS for our servers and it comes with an application called LANSAFE v6.0 which you can setup to schedule an AUTO SHUTDOWN of the server in the event of power failure. We have been able to install this software in other versions of WINDOWS up until now without a problem but with HYPER-V R2, I am not sure how it will work as you must install USB drivers manually, they not being signed drivers.
I did approach the tech support of POWERWARE and guess what they haven't even heard of HYPER-V R2 or Windows Server 2008 Core edition :-(
Now what I was thinking of doing is attempting to install the USB drivers for the UPS etc. via DEVICE MANAGER but HYPER-V r2 doesn't come with a DEVICE MANAGER. I have gone through some blogs and apparantely they say there is a way you can view DEVICE MANAGER from a remote machine but in read-only mode. Is this true??
At this point in time when I try to open it via a remote PC which has the appropriate authentication credentials for HYPER-V, I get the error as attached. And yes the services mentioned are already turned on and REMOTE MANAGEMENT enabled.
My question is how do I GET this UPS USB drivers and Software installed on the Server. It is important for me to have the servers shutdown gracefully in the event of a power failure.
