Recommendations for SW/HW Inventory and Network auditing SW

Hi

I need tyo make a SW/HW inventory and Network audit in a SBS 2003 R2 domain where are XP, Vista and Win 7 workstations (some dualboot Linux WSs too I believe) - some smartphones too. I'd love to have a report of these:

- Computer name
- Computer Manufactorer
- Optionally Computer model
- User names
- Blank PWs
- Operation System
- Optionally installed SW

I'm also interested to test daily automaticly Internet up/download speed and perhaps get suggestions why time to time the speed is very slow. Also I would love to havea report of the LANs quality (collisions and stuff like that).

Do you have any recommendations? I have used GFI LANguard, is it it self a security risk?

Thanks in advantage,

Juha

I wear a lot of hats...

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

I don't think that you find a tool that can do everything in just one box, but one good tool i often use is loginventory -> http://www.loginventory.de/. (German / English). This can handle Windows Clients.

Another good stuff can be found at http://www.docusnap.de/home.aspx (German / English), here you can find some more addons for linux systems etc.

A good tool to check network speed is netio -> http://www.nwlab.net/art/netio/netio.html (German)

For bandwitch & network monitoring with many reporting options would be:
