How To Share Templates Between XenServer Hosts (Non Pooled)

Hello,

We have three XenServer hosts that are not pooled. We have a seperate NFS shared storage device on which we have an ISO directory for the ISO Library. We also have a VM directory for the Virtual Disk Storage.

The ISO library is shared between the servers. So we can upload an ISO and have it available for all three hosts.

How can we configure it to also have the same capability for the Templates which we create?

Thanks,

Daniel

They MUST be pooled and have some kind of shared storage.  NFS would work fine.  Otherwise you are exporting your templates and then importing them to each server, presuming you are using local storage.

Hi,

Thanks, yes it appears you are correct. Each isolated XenServer host creates a seperate storage repository within the NFS share. XenCenter will not allow you to attach more than one XenServer host to the storage repository.

For now we created a seperate NFS share for the templates. We hare having to export them to this share, and then import them into each host. Which isn't ideal because we end up with a copy of the template on each host.

Thanks,

Daniel

You could detach and reattach the SR between servers as you needed the templates here and there.
