ASA and Nortel Switch

I have an Cisco ASA 5505 connected to a provider's Nortel Baystack Switch. Apparently when high traffic hits the interface the firewall hangs. At 100 Mbps Full-Duplex hardcoded the ASA was showing high overrun rates and dropping traffic to devices on the network. However, after removing the hard-coding the operation is apparently normal. Interface negotiated at 100Mbps Full Duplex. I have also upgraded the IOS to 8.22. Anyone ever had a similar issue?

Did you set booth devices 100M full Duplex?

Best regards,
Interoperability between vendors sometimes takes some tweaking to get the best configuration.
In general using the same settings (auto or manual) on both devices will do it which may not be the default setting depending on vendor and revision level. As mentioned already if you lock down one end at 100mb/fdx you should also lock down the other end which may be what was causing your issue if you don't control the other switch.

Eventually ended up leaving the auto negotiation on both devices as the Nortel switch was a third party switch.
