Exchange 2010 - Autodiscover Issue

Hi all. I am having this issues with Exchange 2010. I purchased a 5 domain SSL from GoDaddy and imported it into Exchange. I configured Outlook Anywhere in Exchange as well.

Here is my error from testexchangeconnectivity.com. This is for a Outlook Anywhere test using Autodiscover.

Here is what I get when I run test-outlookwebservices |fl

Who is Participating?

Verify the settings if it is not working.

Also have you configured Autodiscover service to work externally as well? If not then this test will fail again even with remote Outlook clients being able to connect.

I would suggest you run a RPC over HTTPS test at https://testexchangeconnectivity.com and post the results.
P.S: There are 2 tests on this site. 1. Outlook Anywhere with Autodiscover and 2. Outlook Anywhere

I would suggest you run the 2nd test if you are unsure about Autodiscover working externally or not.

Reference articles:
White Paper: Exchange 2007 Autodiscover Service
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb332063(EXCHG.80).aspx

Since you have a 5 name certificate (SAN) you can follow Scenario 1 mentioned in this paper i.e. create a Host 'A' record in the Public DNS for 'Autodiscover.urdomain.com' and point it to your CAS server.

Note: This article says 2007 but is applicable for Autodiscover in Exchange 2010 as well. Nothing has changed. :-)

The test is failing only for https://mail.domainname.com/rpc which means that is is failing for Outlook Anywhere (RPC over HTTPS) availability.

It shows that you have enabled Outlook Anywhere on the Exchange 2010 server but have you also installed the RPC over HTTP proxy component? (You can verify this by checking if you have a RPC virtual directory in the IIS manager under Default Web Site. It will not be present if you have not installed the RPC over HTTP component)

- You can install this by running the command "ServerManagerCmd -i RPC-over-HTTP-proxy" from the command prompt.

Note: You will need to configure Outlook Anywhere with Autodiscover for this test to pass completely. It seems to pass all the autodiscover tests for internal outlook clients.

Le us know if you have any further queries.

Thank you. Yes it is already installed, I installed it "AFTER" I installed Exchange 2010 and realized that it needed to be installed.  Is that a problem?

How do I configure Outlook Anywhere with Autodiscover?
0

lastlostlastCommented:
"Test-OutlookWebServices" verifies the following:
Availability service
Outlook Anywhere
Offline address book
Unified Messaging

You need to configure Outlook Anywhere with Autodiscover only if you have remote Outlook users. If not then no use for it.

BTW what is the issue you are facing? Is this test your only concern or any other issues in Outlook?

I do have remote outlook users. Setting up Outlook outside the office is not working. What should my next step be?
