How to create a Date Column in SharePoint Server 2007 with Month and Year only

Hi,

I would like to create a date column in Sharepoint Server 2007 that uses the month and year only. We have documents that are dated by month, and therefore do not have a day associated with them. SharePoint only gives the option to put in the day, month and year. Is there any way to get around this?

Thanks,

Peter

Hi,

out of the bos this is not possible. Here are 2 blogs explaining a workaround:
http://blogit.create.pt/blogs/raulribeiro/archive/2008/02/15/DateTime-SharePoint-Field-Format.aspx
http://panvega.wordpress.com/2009/03/16/masterpagepagelayout-format-date-field/

You can also set a prractice that everyone uses first of the month (or any other date from that month) and using a calculated field (with the same formula from the blogs above) display only the information that you need.

Hope this helps.
