Moving w2k3 IIS 6 websites to W2k8 IIS7 website with MSDeploy Error - Unathorised File Operation RPCPROXY.DLL.MUI

Hi All,

Am trying to move all websites from w2k3 SBS IIS6 to w2k8 SBS IIS7 with MS Deploy

Have succesfully packaged up and moved the zip file across to the new server.

When attempting to deploy the package to IIS7 using the following:

 C:\Program Files\IIS\Microsoft Web Deploy>msdeploy -verb:sync -source:package=c:\Site2.zip,encryptPassword=password -dest:metakey=lm/w3svc/1 > WebDeploySync.log

 I receive the following error:

Error: Attempt to perform an unauthorized operation on file 'C:\Windows\System32
\RpcProxy\en-US\RpcProxy.dll.mui'.
Error: Access to the path 'C:\Windows\System32\RpcProxy\en-US\RpcProxy.dll.mui'
is denied.
Error count: 1.

I am logged on a Administrator and have tried modifying the permissions on that particular file. Still no dice.

Thanks in advance!

I wear a lot of hats...

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Have a look here for more info on rpcproxy.dll

http://forums.iis.net/t/1154189.aspx

There were issues with 64 bit version of this.

What version is your Windows 2008?

Also for msdeploy I have had permission issues when I an admin user but it worked all ok as the actual administrator account. It is unclear if you are using this.

For permission issues in general look at process monitor to see hwat is actually failing and clues and to why permission is denied.
