Forwarded mail looses orginal sender's email address

Hi,

We have a client that has an interesting problem. They have a help desk that operates solely on OWA-Exchange 2003, which receives a lot of requests that need to be passed on to other departments. The help desk forward the original mail to the relevant departments.

The problem they are having is that most of the emails that are forwarded  have the original senders email address removed, thus making it harder for the department to reply to the original email - however some emails that are forwarded have the original sender with their email address in brackets of the form [mailto:xxx@xxxx.xxx]

I have checked various settings within Outlook on on OWA and believe I have worked out why some addresses are forwarded and the others are not. It appears that any email address known by the user forwarding the email - be it in their personal contacts or in the GAL, is not included in the forwarded mail.

My question is, is there a setting within Exchange to change this so that all email addresses are visible when forwarding mail?

I wear a lot of hats...

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Only if you forward the email as a saved attachment.  The original header  is replaced by the new header.

Thank you Rick,

That was my thought... however how does one attach an email using web mail? I initially suggested this to the client and then found I was unable to attach a mail from within web mail.

I have found the following settings within Outlook:

E-mail options:
"When forwarding a message: Attach original message"

However the above option is not available in OWA, would this be a server-side option instead?
