exchange 2010 only receiving some emails have sent about 20 test emails from hotmail all failed with no errors or undeliverables

Hi all,

since we transfered from exchagne 2003 to 2010 (new forest and 2003 server is gone now)
ive setup exchange 2010 and users have been complain they arent getting as much email as they used too

so i thought id look into it, and ive sent about 10 emails to all different variations of my email address (that are included in my email address on my mailbox) and none are getting to me and hotmail is receiving no undeliverable

im geting some external emails though from other sources but the fact that hotmail doesnt work now and did before means we may not be gettign all our mail

sending emails from outlook from the same accoutn works and i even tried replying, still failed, so sending is fine

ive run the best practice analyzer and the only thing that comes up in all issues is:
unrecoginzed exchange signature
and offlien address book missing (even though its not)

im new to exchange administration but i can verify the following settings:
using isps smtpsmarthost to send emails
accepted domains, mydomain1.org.uk, mydomain2.org, domain.local (all authoratitve)
server config > hub transport defalt recieve connector > permissions > anonymous users ticked (as well as all others but partners)

anyone have any ideas of how to start diangosis and resolve the problem?

Thanks

do you have some software making mail relay, anti-virus and anti-spam? start by checking the mail queues on exchange 2010. also enable verbose on the receive connector and check the logs.

no, no external software nor antivirus, spam nothing, smtp port 25 just goes straight to the exchange server

i looked in the queue viewer

i have mailbox database 0 messages
smtp.myisp 0 messages
submission 0 messages

where do i enable verbose?

ok i just did the following too

telnet 192.168.101.2 25
mail from:myhotmail@live.com
Sender OK!

so its allowed, but where is it going!

is there anyway of tracing where an email goes so i can track see where its getting stuck?

Go to the Exchange 2010 Management console-> Server Configuration-> Hub Transport-> Receive connector (usually default) -> right click and go to properties. On the first pane enable verbose. Send a mail from outside after verbose is enabled and check the logs to see if exchange is refusing the e-mails.
