FTP transfers fail, timeout or are just SLOW (like 4kb/s)

Hi All,
I am having problems using FTP to transfer files to and from my network.  All the FTP sites that I test with are working nominally from my home using the same laptop that I use at work. Is there any issues that I should look for on my LAN or UTM device (untangle 6.0)?

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Do you have a firewall? Most often FTP ports are denied by default I would check to see that FTP has an allow rule on your firewall. This would be thefirst place I would look.

It was an issue with my UTM and I resolved the issue by completely turning off FTP file scanning.
