sharepoint workflow

Good afternoon expert,

Creating workflow. On the page marked 'Add a Workflow' everything seems ok, see gif attached. But when I go to the next page marked ' Customize the Three State Worflow'
also attached, the drop down box maekred 'Select a Choice Feild, as wellas the drop downs marked 'Initial State', 'Middle State', and 'Final State' are greyed out. Also the 'OK' button at the bottom is greyed out. Usually that means some prerequsite to making those choices is not been met. I checked my rites on the site and the document library and I am 'Full Owner' in both
so I don;t understand why cannot create the simple wortkflow.

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

is there a Choice field in the list that you're trying to associate the workflow with?

Hello zephyr,

I don't know. How would I discover that?

look at the settings for the list to see if there's one of type Choice.  if there's not....

see here (at the "Customize a custom list for use with a Three-state workflow" section):

Would not let me associate workflow with document library. When I used task list the workflow was functional.
