Why doesn't the AJAX CalendarExtender pop up?

I declare a date field and pull the calendarextender control to
 it and the resulting markup is:

         <asp:TextBox ID="TXDATE" runat="server" Height="17px" Width="78px"
             Font-Names="Courier New"></asp:TextBox>
         <asp:CalendarExtender ID="TXDATE_CalendarExtender" runat="server"

I added a scriptmanager to the form:

                ID="ScriptManager1" runat="server">

But when I run the form and clicks inside TXDATE no calendar appear.

I've done this twice before and those were the steps I recalled doing.

What am I missing?

I worked around the problem by copying the web.config file from an app where the calendarextenders displays properly.
Hi! Have you tried to delete the existing calendar extender then you can add it again from the toolbox?

I tried that several times all with no success.
