How do I find the mac address for net mgmt port?

I've got a Sun T5120 server and have been asked for the MAC address for the net mgmt port for configuration of the ILOM?  How do I find it?  I've tried ifconfig -a.

You have to run ifconfig -a as root, otherwise it won't show the MAC address.

Oh, okay.

Type  show /HOST in the ILOM.

Connect to the management IP address that you configured on you ILOM, log in, and run the command as explained above. Alternatively connect to the serial management port, you should be presented with the ILOM interface.

So I plug my laptop into the net mgt port.  What application do I need to run to be able to run the command show/HOST

If you've got your laptop connected to it just run ARP -a on the laptop to see MAC/IP address table.

You could do it that way. You'll need a crossover cable and run a dhcp service on your laptop.
Alternatively, just plug into the *serial* management port.

It really does get easier if you read the instructions first.

You have to connect the null modem cable then connect using hyperterminal

Start -  Programs - Accessories - Communications - Hyper terminal

Select the defauly settings and the COMM port you are using and just press enter after you connected, it will show login screen.
