SMTP service on Windows Server 2008

I installed/started the SMTP service on Server 2008 according to this link:

My purpose for this was to be able to send email out from scripts (Perl scripts in particular).
It's working fine now, but my question is one about security.
In following the information at the above link, it says to set the relay to Am I opening up my server to be an open relay by doing this?  Are spammers gonna have a field day now that I have enabled this or is it secure?
If it's not secure, what can I do to secure it?

In this case no other server (including spammers) will not be able to send mail from your server.

It is secured because relay can be done from you server IP address and Server IP address will be used with your website only, So no problem to enable it. SMTP needs to enable it and it will not make your server open relay.
