I installed/started the SMTP service on Server 2008 according to this link:
My purpose for this was to be able to send email out from scripts (Perl scripts in particular).
It's working fine now, but my question is one about security.
In following the information at the above link, it says to set the relay to 127.0.0.1. Am I opening up my server to be an open relay by doing this? Are spammers gonna have a field day now that I have enabled this or is it secure?
If it's not secure, what can I do to secure it?
