iPhone+HTML: How to have a textbox for which iPhone entry switches to number block

On my webpage for an iPhone I have textboxes (html form input fields type "text") in which the user can enter only numbers. When displayed on an iPhone as soon as the focus is on that text box the iPhone offers a keyboard for text entry. The problem is that it displays the keyboard for characters not digits.

How can I make the iPhone switch to the digit keyboard straight away without showing the charcter keyboard? Is there a Javascript solution or do I have to set something in my HTML code?

Regards,
Dirk.
