Does anyone know a good graphics editor that works well on linux?

I need a free graphics editor download. I have to do invitations and I can't seem to find one that is good with linux. Does anyone have any good ideas? I have linux gloria.

I wear a lot of hats...

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

GIMP is the obvious choice, but I'd be surprised if you hadn't come across it yet.

Depending on what type of graphics editor you need, have a look at

I have Gimp and it doesn't do what I really want to do. I need something a little simpler because I'm kinda of new with linux.  Also looking for something with templates that I can use.

Sorry for the delay.  I am doing a graduation invitation for a friend. But I manage to get it done in Word 2007 but I would prefer a graphics program to be able to design better.  The other programs listed only gives me the option to either do graphics on pictures such as edit them but I would like to have a full program that would give me options to do different invitations.

Thank you for your suggestions but word 2007 did the job.  I would love to have a great invitation maker by linux something like greeting card factory.  Thank you anyway.
