how do i open a linux server remotly from my desktop?
Hi,
i want to conenct to a linux server remotly from my desktop ( not through SSH ), similer to remote desktop for windows is there a utility i can do the same?.

The installation of the server portion should be done on the linux server. Also make sure the port is opened in any firewalls (default port 5900/tcp). Also remember to have a password set - some flavors of VNC install without requiring you to enter a password first.
You can then use the VNC client application on any computer to connect to the server, provide the password, and control it just like you were in front of the keyboard.

i installed the server software on the linx machine VNC for linx, and installed the vnc client on my windows desktop, but it did not work

what is the Linux distribution you use ?
