Need SMTP .NET code to allow APC Netbotz to relay email to ComCast SMTP with authenticaiton

Hi.  We have several devices on our network that need to send email alerts during the day.  For example, our SonicWall alerts me when an anomaly is detected.  Our ComCast business class SMTP server allows us to relay the message only if we provide credentials. SonicWall allows us to supply those credentials and it works great.  We also have an APC Netbotz that is not smart enough to supply credentials, so ComCast SMTP will not allow it to relay.  We do not have access to an Exchange server locally, so I want to download or write a simple .NET app that will listen for an SMTP request and run on my development PC.   I know how to write the C# or VB.NET code to send email, including how to authenticate, etc., but i do not know how to have an app listen for email requests and relay them to the ComCast server. Any ideas?  PS I would prefer to download a free or low cost desktop SMTP server but cannot find one.

Any Windows server can have SMTP installed on it and setup using IIS to send these messages. Just setup the smarthost and login for it.

--run on my development PC. --  The server will be off at night and that is when we need to monitor.  Looking for either code that will run as a console app or a free or lowcost desktop SMTP host.

Servers are better although PCs will work. What OS? If anything Microsoft newer than 2000 install IIS 6 (7 if Vista or Win 7). The rest of the procedure is nearly the same. You need to open port 25 in the firewall.

Okay, so just spin up IIS 7 ( I am running Vista 32, soon to be 7 x64 ) and install the SMTP server with IIS?  As long as I can supply my credentials then tell it relay to ComCast I will award points.  Pretty elegant, just run IIS.  Will try tomorrow, late for meeting.

That is it. Get it installed and we can tweak the settings for you. I'll post details once I'm off the commute.

I was unaware that SMTP is no longer included for Vista and Win 7 with IIS! Cancel success on that idea.

Funny, I looked and I looked and could not find it. I did a full install of IIS and still no SMTP.  Still would like a lightweight app that runs SMTP on my desktop -or- some code that will provide that functionality.  Requirements:  must listen for email send requests on standard ports; must allow us to relay the message on my ComCast mail server after logging in.  That's it...  IIS would have been a nice fit.

guys, I decided to just go with IIS on my server since that is now an option.
