"VIC2-FXO" NOT BEING SEEN BY CISCO 3825 ROUTER

I  recently installed a VIC2-2FXO VWIC card into a CISCO 3825 router running ADVANCED IP SERVICES   (c3825-advipservicesk9-mz.124-24.T3.bin)

Unfortunately the Router is not seeing/ discovering the FXO card.

I do not believe there is a problem with the IOS however perhaps I should try using the IP VOICE IOS
( c3825-ipvoicek9-mz.124-24.T3.bin)

Any direction and/or ideas on how to troubleshoot these type of issue would be appreciated.

thanks

Does your router have the required pvdm modules installed?

You can check this by doing a show diag command.  If you are unsure you can post the results back to here.

Here is the link to the pvdm modules on cisco.com

Hey Boys

I ran the "show diag"

The router is detecting the card however when I run the command "show voice port"  the FXO port is not seen.

I copied the config from the show diag command

Negative

I do not have a DSP for this router,

Is a DSP necessary when running a single VWIC Card?
Yes a DSP will be required.

Will lack of a DSP prevent the router from seeing the card when using he  " show voice port
command?
DSP is mandatory for VOICE

Is is normal then to be able to see the card when using the #SHOW DIAG command but "not" be able to view the card when issuing the #SHOW VOICE PORT   command.

Do the DSP chips install directly into the Router?
Yes, the chips are about as easy to install as a ram chip is so they are simple slot fit equipment you install inside of the router. There are a few variations so make sure to get one that fits your needs.
