I wear a lot of hats...

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

And while you wait for answer you can examine the server's log, miscellaneous events view for the time the program should've run.

As mbonaci says:

mail -B

Compact doesn't understand the * as a wildcard symbol... So if you want to specify multiple databases, you have to compact all databases in a directory by naming the directory only, or you have to make a list of all databases.
