I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

you can enable the IIS6 feature on Windows 2008...
Modify Role Services... and make sure IIS compatibility is selected

Do you know why specifically it needs to run on IIS 6?  You can try installing the IIS 6 Management Compatibility Role Services.  Another option is to try running the application in a Classic .Net App Pool instead of one in integrated mode.

I need to run 6 so that I can use 5 compatibility mode. Can 6 be installed?
Oh no.  You can't install IIS 6 and then run it in IIS 5 compatibility mode on 2008 R2.  If that's really necessary then you'll need to run it on 2003 server.  But I would try the other options listed above first.
