Enable PHP 5 FTP module after installation

I have an install of PHP5 on a Debian Lenny server.  When the PHP5 install was made, the admin (um... me) neglected to include --enable-ftp as part of the compile.

Is there any way to do this after-the fact?  If not, what is the process for un-installing and re-installing PHP5 with this switch?
