"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Did you get all of the updates for the 2005?  Often those updates change the file structure.
If you did have 2008, you may have bought it from intuit online and, if you remeber the login and password at their site, you'd be able to download it again.
Downgrading the qdf file is almost impossible; but, 2008 is dirt cheap: http://www.google.com/products?q=quicken+2008&hl=en
