Need a a web staging area

I have a website that I am ready to show to a client. The client would like to publish it somewhere so that only the client can view (I don't want it to show up on search engines yet)...anyway, I'm assumming that I can accomplish this via web hosting...any ideas how I can get this done cheap?

You can get a dedicated IP address hosting account you can show the client via the site IP address... this typically will keep the site from being accessed by normal DNS means. Not a security measure by any means.

Or you can utilize a .htaccess file.

OR you can put in a robots.txt file and not allow the engines to crawl your site. Multiple options.

Godaddy has this option to get a dedicated site ip address or there are a TON of smaller web hosting providers that can help you with that.

 Myself included.

You could also set up a simple local webserver using xampp, and then give him your own IP address so that he can view that.
You'd only need to run it while he's hoping to test his pages and could close the tunnel from your firewall once he's finished testing.
