Mass WIndows XP SP3 Rollout Issue

Hi All

I am having a massive issue with installing Windows XP SP3 on all my workstations.

Basically the network I have inherited has about 900 workstations running either SP1 or SP2.

I have setup a WSUS server, no problem all set up and working however the issue is with the installation of SP3.

I have been told a script was run on all the PC's sometime last year to lock down the registries due to a Virus outbreak.

secedit /configure /cfg %windir%\repair\secsetup.inf /db secsetup.sdb /verbose

I have followed the MS article below

The Advanced troubleshooting part works, but I am concerned I am going to have to do this on 900 PC's

Also SubInACL doesn't seem to install via GP.

Any ideas?

Thanks Arm

i would probably say that this is being applied via GPO. check to find the gpo and disable it for just the time you need to do the pushout and then re apply..

gpo for most people updates every 30 minutes..

so set it 1 day and then push it out that night :)

You legend, I just found an old GP that locks down a few keys in the registry. Reversed it and all sorted thanks.
