Spooler subsystem app error keeps recurring after MS fix

System:

Windows XP
HP1018 Laser Jet Printer
SP3

Have fixed this problem numerous times now using
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;EN-US;810894

But it just keeps coming back!!

Saw a similar post on here:

But the solution posted is no longer available at the Brother website.  Any help would be appreciated.

I just went through this with a client not more then an hour ago. I used the Cleanspl.exe utility to wipe out everything with spooling subsystem. It's part of the Windows 2003 Resource Tool Kit.
I would run that and if it comes back again, you've got a buggy driver.

Thanks i'll certainly give that a try, i have a feeling it may well be buggy drivers though!

  Just note that it might not be the driver your working with, but another that you previosuly had installed and/or a combination of drivers.  Or it may really be this current printer driver.
 Also be careful with the Cleanspl utility.  On the first pass, I'd leave the TCP/IP port monitor and the USB port monitor.   If it still doesn't resolve your problem, then get rid of those as well.  but that may mean a un-install/re-install of the TCP/IP components in windows.
