Hi "Sid_F", please describe what you were trying/wanting to do, then the specific error that occurred. If possible, post a screenshot.

I had virtual centre installed on a 2003 server vm for testing. I can no longer connect to the VI. When I try to start the vmware boot services manually I get it could not find the path specified. when I check the path C:\DOCUME~1\ADMINI~1\LOCALS~1\Temp\1\vmware_guestcust\bootrun.exe it does not exist

Did you try the Guest Customization Wizard option when using the deployment Virtual Machines option using a template ?

I was under the impression that you were trying to deploy new Virtual machines from template.
What credentials are you using to start the service ?
Sid_FAuthor Commented:
No I'm trying to access virtual centre from vphere client, its failing so I am now looking at the services on the server running virutal centre and can see errors as above when starting services

Are you using vCenter or Virtual Center ?
coolsport00Commented:
Check on your vCenter Server to make sure your database is connected. Check/Test your ODBC connection to make sure it's a successful connection and let me know.

Yes - first  check your database, is it local to your vCenter installation or a remoted DB.  Often times, if the DB is on the same server as the vCenter service, then vCenter doesn't start after a reboot becvause it wants to start before SQL is up and running and therefore failis to start when it can't connect.  But it sounds like there is something more here.  Did you change the name of your vCenter server or add it to a domain or something?  Name changing will require running a small script against your vCenter DB, I have had to do this.  Also, check to make sure you aren't using VMware update manager on the same server and creating a port conflict.

I took the east way out, removed and reinstalled noted that the vmware boot service gave the same error message but vcentre was back up and running

Yeah, the last time I ran into an issue with vCenter services not starting it was because I renamed the server, then after I successfully got vCenter service to start by running a script against the DB the VMware update manager installation couldn't be found so I had to also rebuild, luckily the process is quick and painless, that is the one thing I love about VMware techonology, you can rebuild just about anything in less than an hours time.
